Upcoming Events in Fourth Grade
Natural History Museum
Date: November 16th
We will be leaving at 8:30 and plan to be back around 2:30. Please pack a snack lunch for your child. They also need to be in performance dress, for a reminder of what that is please look at the Renaissance Academy website. Students will be learning about the various historical events in our states history.
We will need 12 parents to come with us on this field trip. You are welcome to drive separately or ride with us on the bus. It is approximately 1 hour away.
Thanksgiving Break
Date: November 22-24th

Language Arts
Spelling
We will be finishing unit 2 the first week of this month, and we will be starting unit 3 the 27th. The lists are attached on the English documents page. Each Monday students will bring home a list of words that need to be categorized by their root word, they need to turn these in Friday. Just a reminder that every student is assigned a specific amount of words to practice.
Spelling tests are given every Friday.
October 30- November 3: Unit 2 Week
November 6-10: No Spelling
November 13-17: Unit 2 Week 5
November 20-21: No Spelling
November 30-December 1: Unit 3 Week 1
Reading
At the beginning of the month you should have seen a reading menu and book report information packet.
Each term there will be a genre themed book report. This term is Mythology. They will need to complete a novel with in this genre and create a t-shirt representation of their book. They will present their t-shirt on January 19th to the class.
This terms book report is due January 19th
The reading menu is the other part of how we monitor student reading each month. Students need to pick one novel each month with in the book report requirements. They need to pick an activity for each section (Appetizers, Main Course, and Desserts) and fill out the back of the menu, using details from their book. Menu's are due the last Friday of each month.
This month's reading menu is due December 1st.
Math
This month we will be working on multiplication and division facts and rules. We ask that you review multiplication facts with your students by using the multiplication charts provided. Students need to master these facts by the end of the year.

We will learn how to describe Utah fossils and explain how they were formed. Also, we will Explain how fossils can be used to make inferences about past life, climate, geology, and environments.
Nov30 Fossil Unit test
This year, science is mainly taught in Chinese, but all science tests, including SAGE, are in English. Please encourage your kids to spend more time reviewing science.
